A dog has risked her life to save her ten-day-old puppies from a house fire in Santa Rosa de Temuco, Chile. Amanda, described as a German Shepherd mix, ran back and forth between the burning home and a fire truck, carrying all five pups to safety, then protected them with her body while firefighters dealt with the fire.
Amanda and her pups were taken to a nearby vet for treatment. Four of the pups are reported to be doing well but one pup, Amparo, suffered severe burns after falling during the rescue and sadly did not survive. Owner Omar Torres was treated for burns. The fire was apparently started after a car bomb was set off.
