Crimewatch launches first public appeal over killing of a dog

Crimewatch is appealing to the public to find the perpetrators of a horrible killing. But, for the first time ever, this time the victim is a dog.

Troya, a two-year-old Presa Canario, was found dead in Romiley Canal in Stockport after she was stolen from her kennel behind her owner’s house on Christmas Eve.

When she was discovered in January this year, the two-year-old Spanish working dog had an Aldi supermarket carrier bag tied around her head with curtain wire and a length of washing line attached to her collar.

Owner Anthony Taylor who had brought Troya to the UK from Tenerife, said he was devastated when he realised Troya was gone and shed tears when he found out she had died.

Police and the RSPCA who investigated her death confirmed the dog had been killed deliberately and that she had probably been strangled according to a post mortem examination.

Why do people do these terrible things to animals who have done them no harm and bring so much pleasure to people's lives...

There are many cruel people around. Maybe if the dog was kept outside, it barked a lot and someone wanted it stopped.

Press's are a beautiful breed and the killing of any dog is tragic. But why on earth did they import a dog with cropped ears!!

If she hadn't been made to sleep outside alone, in the cold of December, this may never have happened to that poor dog.

A lot of dogs sleep outside in kennels,I can't see anything wrong with that. Some dogs even prefer to sleep outside. Not sure how the owner is any way at fault here
The person/people who did this are pure evil
