Smiling from ear to ear

The 2012 edition of The Guinness Book of Records will feature Harbor, an eight year old Black and Tan Coonhound from Boulder, Colorado, USA. Harbor's claim to fame is that he boasts a pair of long ears, the longest on a living dog. With the left ear measuring 12.25 inches and the right 13.50 inches, Harbor takes the new title from a now deceased Illinois bloodhound called Tigger, whose ears both measured 13.50 inches.

The world's shortest man, Junrey Balawing from the Philippines, is 23.5 inches in height - smaller than Harbor's ear-span!

The ears that caused Harbor to trip and fall down stairs as a puppy have brought him lots of attention, bringing smiles to the faces of passers-by wanting to take his picture. Some also want to give his ears a pull, which according to his owner Jennifer Wert, he doesn't really like. Ah, the price of fame.

Congratulations to Harbor and Jennifer.
