Back in 2009, dog owner Harold Pursey refused to go into a care home without his beloved labrador, Bob. The home, Frith House, agreed to take war veteran Mr Pursey and Bob and when Mr Pursey needed to move to a nursing home, Burnham Lodge, Burnham-on-Sea, agreed to take them together too. The home also agreed to give 10-year-old Bob a forever home there after Mr Pursey died and a contract was drawn up to ensure he had a home for life.
Mr Pursey sadly died at the age of 94 in August 2010 with his faithful labrador by his side.
Bob has lived at Burnham Lodge ever since, and is much loved by the staff and residents. Unfortunately, Bob fell ill with a virus on New Year's Eve and had to receive urgent veterinary treatment. He needs more surgery but a Trust Fund set up for him to cover vet care has been depleted.
Mr Pursey's social worker, Judith Alder - who helped with the difficult task of ensuring Mr Pursey and Bob stayed together, and with raising money for the original Trust Fund - is organising fund raising activities to raise money for Bob's treatment.
For more information, Judith can be contacted on 07825 904271.
