Contestants bidding for the crown of Mrs Tenerife took time off from their round of engagements to visit a dog shelter to help give the facility a publicity boost as it tries to keep its head above water.
The wannabe beauty queens, who have to be over the age of 30 to take part in what has been billed as a competition for "normal" women, travelled all the way to Icod de los Vinos yesterday to spend the day with the dogs, some of whom have been at APANO for over a decade as noone wants to adopt them.

I hope the publicity will gain more donations so the shelter can continue to help these poor dogs.
