A yellow labrador named Reagan has saved the lives of two kittens who were put in a bag and dumped on a road in an act of terrible cruelty.

Reagan found a bag of 'Meow Mix' dumped on a rural Madison County road, USA, dragged it back to his home and refused to move from his 'find'. His owner, Kerry, described hearing faint cries coming from the bag and upon opening it, discovered a gruesome sight. Two three-week-old kittens were found amongst the grisly remains of their siblings - the bag had been crushed by traffic. “It was gruesome, quite gruesome because the kittens; there was a litter of 4 or 5 of them and you couldn't tell if there were 2 or 3 in the bag because they had been run over by a vehicle. It was not a pretty sight”, remarked Linda Blakeley at Racoon Valley Animal Sanctuary (RVAS).

Blakeley commented that despite the scent of blood, Reagen's instinct was to nurture and not kill the kittens.
