Dog abandoned in a tent at Glastonbury Festival.

Animal rescue workers are seeking the owner of this dog - which was found abandoned in a tent at Glastonbury Festival.

The lurcher was found covering in one of the 5,000 discarded tends during the clean-up of the 1,200-acre festival site at Worthy Farm, Somerset.

The beautiful white dog was renamed 'Dolly' by officials in tribute to festival hit Dolly Parton.

Dolly the dog is now recovering at the Happy Landings animal shelter in Pylle, Somerset and rescue workers are looking for answers.

A spokesperson said: 'How anyone could do such a thing is beyond me.

'She is a sweet-natured older lurcher, and clearly very stressed to find herself in this predicament.

'We had hoped than an owner would come forward but there has still been nothing.'
...[snip]...
A spokesman for the festival declined to comment but said pets were not welcome at Glastonbury.

What a disgrace. Hopefully the poor thing will find an owner who will love it as much as it deserves.

UPDATE:

According to this report...

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-somerset-28190127

Dolly Parton has offered to adopt a dog that was left behind following the exodus of Glastonbury Festival.

The white lurcher was discovered in one of the 5,000 tents discarded at Worthy Farm during a clean-up of the 1,200-acre festival site last week.

Taken in by the Happy Landings animal shelter, the dog was named Dolly after the star who stole the show with her debut performance at the event.

The 68-year-old singer said she would take it in if its owner was not found.

The shelter, which described the dog as a "sweet-natured older lady", said it had received "many, many phone calls" but that it would not be re-homed "until we can ascertain whether she has an owner".

Thanks for that update Nippy. It is good to know that Dolly the dog is being treated for her ear infection and will have the dental work required before she is re-homed.

I am horrified to learn that the owners are getting her back. I would have thought that they had forfeited all rights to being Dolly's owners

Unbelievable. After the dog has been rescued, looked after, treated for her ear infection and will have/may already have had the necessary dental work done, the "owners" have appeared to request her return?

How very convenient for them. They leave the dog, and when they find out that the dog has been treated with no cost to them, they now want her back.

Disgusting.
