When six-year-old Lily, a blind Great Dane, was re-homed with her companion, fellow Great Dane Maddison, staff at the Dogs Trust were thrilled that their appeal had been successful and their story was widely reported. Lily and Maddison were a couple, with Lily relying on her friend as a guide dog to help her get around.
Sadly, the change in home environment proved stressful for Lily and she just could not adjust. A spokesperson for the Dogs Trust explained that this affected the dogs' relationship and caused Lily to turn on her friend. Attempts at reconciliation were unsuccessful so while Maddison has remained with the new owners, Lily has returned to the Dogs Trust centre, to be re-homed separately.
The Dogs Trust are seeking a home for Lily where she will be the only pet.
