A Staffordshire Bull Terrier was abandoned by his owners outside Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, Todwick Road, North Anston. The dog, re-named Bobby after the policeman who found him, was discovered tied to a gate post in the cold and rain at 3 am.
Bobby was the third dog found in such a way in a short time but his circumstances were distressing. Sarah Froggat, a helper at the sanctuary, said: “The fear in the mind of that little dog that night is upsetting for everyone who cares".
She added: "It was cold, wet and windy when this little dog's owners decided they didn't want him any more. They took him out of the car, tied him up and drove away.”
Bobby was taken in by the sanctuary and is now seeking a forever home. The sanctuary can by contacted by calling: 01909564399
