A white miniature labradoodle was shot dead on Monday afternoon (around 1pm) while being walked at Birkrigg Common, Little Urswick, near Ulverstone. The weapon used may have been a shotgun, fired from the window of a vehicle and there is no obvious motive for the shooting.

Cumbria Police are seeking information on what may have been a random killing, in particular from anyone who might have seen a white transit van or Landrover stopping near the car park.
