Hornsea house fire kills up to 25 dogs

Up to 25 dogs have died in their cages after a house caught fire in East Yorkshire.

About 18 firefighters were at the blaze in Graingers Road, Hornsea just before 19:00 BST on Saturday, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said.

The dogs were owned by private breeders who returned to their home to find it well alight with the dogs inside, police said.

The animals were all in cages, so were unable to escape from the blaze.
The fire service said nothing could be done to save the animals. No people were in the house.

Paul Clucas, of the fire service, said: "It totally destroyed the timber-framed building because of the intensity of the fire."

How tragic.

According to...

Bl**dy h*ll that's 6 miles from me, just behind the promenade. They aren't show people, well not successful ones, who keeps 20+ dogs in cages in their home unattended ??

There is a fund raising page set up.

They seem to have been breeding since 2002 is quite a big way too. I presume they show mainly at Championship shows not seen them at many local shows.

Poor dogs but still cannot understand why there was no one at home with them

All those show dogs and they had no house or contents insurance?

My little bungalow is covered by my neighbour/landlady for building insurance and I have separate contents insurance.

Neither have been claimed upon and hopefully neither will be, but I honestly can not understand someone not having even the most basic insurance?
