An abandoned puppy faces being put to sleep unless a new home can be found for him. Twelve-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier Bailey was left at Country Boarding Kennels at Slip End, Baldock, Herts for two weeks. Bailey's owner, who said he was temporarily homeless, never returned and five weeks on, and despite repeated attempts to contact the owner, Bailey is still there.
Kennel owner Jeremy Burrowes said: “This appears to be a sad case of a dog owner who is unwilling to face up to the responsibility of owning a pet and has tried to pass the problem over to someone else to find a suitable home for his dog.
“Ultimately, if a good home cannot be found, the last resort is that he will have to be put down.”
Mr Burrowes said that Bailey would best suit someone experienced with dogs, adding: “He's quite good natured, and he could be trained because he is quite young."
