FOURTEEN Bull Terriers and Miniature Bull Terriers are recovering after a fire destroyed kennel blocks at a breeder’s home.
Several sustained burns and one Miniature Bull Terrier lost the litter of seven puppies she was carrying due to shock.
The fire, which razed to the ground various blocks and stables, was at the Kent home of breeder and exhibitor Juliet Shaw (Badlesmere), who believes that had she had been asleep or not been at home at the time – all her dogs would have been killed and her house would have caught fire too.
Fire investigators say the blaze was caused by a mouse chewing through a cable to the kennel’s fridge.
The most damage was caused to buildings containing Bull Terriers and Miniature Bull Terriers; the one containing Border Terriers was not affected.
Mrs Shaw was in the garden with some of her dogs and a friend when they heard a bang and saw smoke coming from a kennel block housing 11 dogs and a stable containing three.
