National Trust letter blasts dog owners for not cleaning up after their dogs

While the National Trust might be a symbol of peace and tranquility, this entertaining but hard-hitting letter must have put the fear of God into some dog owners.

National Trust Rangers in St Agnes, Cornwall, have become so fed up with seeing dog faeces left on pathways that they constructed an open letter to local residents.

The letter warns of the danger of roundworm infections, which can cause blindness in humans - a particular concern to those who may be walking through the countryside with young children.

"Western Hill is disgusting," starts the poster.

"It is covered in dog faeces left by irresponsible and inconsiderate dog owners."

"Each turd can contain one million roundworm eggs. These can survive in the soil for three years.

"Roundworm infections in humans can lead to blindness."

The letter calls on patrons of Western Hill to "have some respect for others" and to bag their dogs' mess and to take it home.

And responsible dog owners will carry on picking up after their dogs while the irresponsible ones will carry on not bothering.
