A pensioner who was fined Ł75 for brushing his dog in his local park – and leaving some of the fur lying around – has had his fine cancelled and been given an apology.
Mr Wyre, a former security guard, brushed his dog in Harvey Hadden Playing Fields, near Nottingham City, while wearing his old high-visibility uniform. Suspected of impersonating a police officer, he was questioned by a community support officer and although he says he tried to put the offending fur into a poo bag to take home, he was later fined for dropping dog fur in a public place.
A council spokesman confirmed that once the full details were known, an apology was granted and the fine cancelled. An internal investigation has begun.
