Two rescue animals at the Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norfolk have formed a close friendship. They do everything together – eating, sleeping and playing. The two friends are five-week-old Tabitha the piglet and five-year-old Susie the boxer dog and a video of them together has become popular viewing on the internet – with over 50,000 hits on YouTube.
Tabitha was found “shivering and alone” and close to death by the side of a country road when she was just a couple of weeks old. Susie was used for breeding in “appalling conditions” at a Welsh puppy farm when she was rescued two years ago. One of six dogs rescued, she lived in a “stinking” cattle shed.
Wendy Valentine, founder of Hillside, described the bond between the animals. “They are constantly with each other and don't like being separated. They go to sleep with each other and eat next to each other. It's lovely to see them playing with each other, Susie is very gentle with her and seems to know she's only young. They go racing around the room, rolling on their backs playing, it's very funny.
