Anyone thats says "I dont make a penny" makes me want to yawn. I run a rescue and feed science plan, panacur, vax and advocate before leaving and only get a £175 donation. But if my frenchies pass relevant health checks then I will breed as litter and they will be £1500 plus a pup.

Yep i know someone who has just had a litter of French Bulldog pups and thats what they went for

I guess when you see prices like that - it is easy to understand why people have a litter.....

I have never bred so don't know whats involved but i will say the person i was referring to did it all properly, had the health checks done, scans and vet advise, then there was the caesarian section that had to be be performed, and a proper stud dog so not sure what costs would be involved in that ?

I agree but like Tassle said it's easy to see why back yard breeders are so prevelant! A quick and easy buck for those who have no interest in health tests etc.

It's a very annoying catch 22 - good breeders charge higher prices to cover costs. General public have no clue, unscrupulous breeders charge similar pricing and make a fortune......

Yes i agree with you, i think something should be done about breeding personally but what ? only registered breeders but how could that be policed ?
