I realise it might be too difficult though and I am sure whatever you do will be appreciated by the Family and from us here.
I prefer the simplest of floral tributes, combined with something lasting to be planted in her garden. Myrtle, for remembrance? Does it thrive in Tasmania?
But I wouldn't fall out with anyone over whatever idea .... just that I prefer something lasting and think very large wreaths can look a little ostentatious.

How about a bird bath with a plaque on it in remembrance of her life?

Perhaps we could enlist John's help when he feels up to it, and just send flowers for now.

That's nice, because it can move if John wants to move house, which a tree can't.

Yeah we need to get something that can be taken to any house really. Even if we get a lovely statue of a boxer or something and can get the bottom engraved maybe?

I thought it might be a less labour intensive thing. I'm not sure how John will cope with Lesley's massive garden - she worked so hard in it!

I think that's a lovely idea.

I too think a lasting memorial is a lovely idea. However, I do think we need to send some flowers or something first, as remember John would have to plant the tree/shrub or whatever, and I think at this time he's going to have enough to do just getting through the funeral. The ideas are lovely and I think we need something long-lasting. But, our 1st priority has got to be helpful for the family for now. There's forever to get it right for the memorial, and see how the fund progresses. Who knows maybe if we get enough in the funds like has already been said a tree? a seat for John to sit in the garden? Just thinking about the immediate practicalities as it will be so hard for the family right now. Hope this makes sense?

If they don't need it so much, I would suggest donating the money that would have been spent on flowers to a doggy charity - perhaps a boxer one? I'm sure Lesley would appreciate that.

Sorry just another thought. We all want to show what SB meant to our family here on Dogsey, but, imagine if we send a huge wreath that 'outshines' (for want of a better word any floral tributes given by SB's family and friends. I for one would hate that to be the case. Much better to send something to show we care for now and put effort into a lasting memorial in the near future???
