Demodex mange help please

My elderly dog has been suffering with demodex mange for 6 months I have been using Advocate prescribed by the vet which has stopped the hair loss and some hair had grown back. The problem areas were the head between the eyes around his neck where a collar would sit and the top of his back were his ribs end. The head hair has not grown back but the skin is fine. The collar area has all grown back apart from a small patch. But the area at the back is coated in a sticky drak brown coating whick I guess is dead hair folicals and skin. I have tried to bathe him in hibiscrub but it woun't remove the sticky coating so I got a flee comb and scraped the skin which takes it off but leaves the skin raw but not bleeding.

I am not sure which is best to do but the hair won't beable to grow if the skin is clogged with this sticky coating. The vet has not been much help I asked if there was a shampoo or anything they would recommend but they just said I should take him back for more skin scrapes which is another £100 for their pocket when the problem has stopped I just need to get rid of this stcky coating where the hair loss was. The rest of his skin is fine he is not in pain or itching with it.
Can anyone recomend a shampoo or cream to lift the problem. I have been putting aloe vera gel or the raw bits that I scraped off.

Mange is something I'm currently battling with my rescue pup.

To help with the dark brown coating I would use an oil. Any oil would do it; Olive, Almond etc or better again Neem or Pure Virgin Coconut Oil. You can also add a few drops of Pure Lavender Oil for its soothing, healing, calming and antiseptic properties and/or Pure Rosemary Oil for its anti-septic, anti-microbial and healing properties. Note: essential oils are strong smelling for a dog's nose so use sparingly - 1:25 dilution at least.

For a shampoo, I would go with a Organic Neem Oil shampoo - any will do - Neem helps to stop itching too.

Or you could try the Neem Oil with Green Clay and Tea Tree one from Armonie Naturali. Here's some info on the product range: http://www.alpenschatz.com/armoni.htm

It's not easily available in the UK yet, but I have found it on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEEM-OIL-DOG-S...3286.m20.l1116

It is completely natural, has Neem Oil in it which is very good for skin allergies, also has Green Clay to balance and repair and Tea Tree for anti-microbial.

Also, I would suggest getting some MSM powder to help get his skin health back to normal.

Here's some info on it:
http://www.naturodoc.com/library/med...m/MSM_apps.htm

And here's where I get mine from - http://www.textilegarden.com/MSM.htm

You can't overdose, start on half a teaspoon a day and see how he goes.

Other things to try:-

1) Salmon Oil and between 200-400iu Vitamin E to help utilise the salmon oil
2) Pure Neem Oil applied topically
3) Neem Leaf Powder - add a teaspoon to food
4) Pure Virgin Coconut Oil applied topically and on food (build up slowly to feeding 1 teaspoon per 10kg/20lb of weight of dog)

And last, although certainly not least, homeopathic pills are excellent for mange and skin disorders. I'm not a homeopath so I'd rather not tell you what - there is information on the internet regarding this http://www.earthsremedy.com/petshomeopathy.htm or better again, consult a homeopathic vet.

Thank you for your help. The vet would not prescribe anything else without a skin scrape.
I will get some of the neem oil to try and lift it and see how it goes then will look into the other remedies. When I have a bit more time. Real busy at the moment.
Thank you
