Neighbours dog is becoming a problem. HELP!!

Ok, this neighbour of mine bought a pom pup a few weeks back, she doesnt take him out so this pup BARKS all the time he's let out in the garden. by barks i mean the racing to the gate non stop barking and standing in the garden barking at nothing, even if i walk down my garden it sets him off.

so what does she do???

NOTHING!

she never corrects him, so now even OH has said he will go round and see her i wont as she is not the most approachable person around. she moved in in november and has caused me hassle ever since. she doesnt talk to anyone in the village and with her antics she has annoyed most people.

other people have been shouting for her to shut the dog up but nothing happens. 7.30am it starts and with the odd half hour break it can go on til 10pm.

if i do phone the enviromental department what can they do?

i'm getting desparate now

I'm sorry to hear you are having this nightmare Someone posted a link to defra about noise control. I'm not sure where it was but hopefully they will see this and repost it - it may help. Good luck.

It is unacceptable for a dog to be barking constantly. You need to contact the council and they will send a letter out to your neighbour saying they have had a complaint. It is done anonymously. Nothing is done at this point as the person is given time to sort the situation. If the barking continues then you have to make a further complaint. The council will then take it further ie, putting monitoring equipment in and visiting the neighbour to listen for themselves (ie if you say it barks every morning, they will go an listen themselves). If they evaluate that there is a problem then they will write/visit your neighbour to give them another warning. If this is not adhered to then your neighbour will be taken to court and can be fined upto £5,000 (that's the amount in Warwickshire anyway).
I know it's not the nicest thing to have to do but you usually find one letter will probably sort your neighbour out. Keep a diary noting down times the dog was barking and for what length.

Failing that send the leo round to sit on it (sorry, not helpful)

This is what Claire&Daisy did; I thought it was a brilliant way to handle the situation

I must admit - I can handle any dog barking, as long as it's not mine.

ETA: The same as I can cope with children crying... as long as they're not mine

Good luck Julie, as a pom & leo owner i'm sure H would play.
Bud doesn't bark much, no more than the leos so doesn't this pup get any stimulation/training?

no training or walks. he starts barking in the house then she lets it out and he doesnt stop for hours. 7am this starts.
