How many times is OK

This is for breeders and general concensus.

How many times is ok to breed a bitch?

I think it depends on the individual bitch, how she coped with each litter health wise herself, the pups, the whelping, any health complications, how well/quick she recovered, any lasting affects, how it's affected her mentally and her condition etc etc there's lots to consider.

If you had the perfect robotic bitch that was perfect in every way, easy whelping, no probs, good litter, recovered quickly, regained condition quickly, good Dam to pups etc, then I would probably say no more than 2 or 3, depending on how large the litters were. And of course depending on if there was any call to keep using that bitch, hence she kept producing the desired quality and health in the pups.

Just my opinion of course, many dog 'authorities' have a much higher limit !!

Why do you want to know ?

Personally I am planning 1 possibly 2 from Krystal, depending on the reasons Malady stated and at what age she has her first litter. Chances are she will be at least 3/4 when she has her first so will probably be 1.

For me normally one litter, but saying that will do two if I absolutely loved the first litter, and wanted another puppy,I really only do ever breed if I want one for myself,oh will also have a second litter from said female if I have had lots of losses, due to old age, illness,
