Lovely dog, strange owner (as usual)
Was out walking my two, and we'd been on the beach; when I saw a woman walking a stunning chocolate Dobe on a lead.
I called my 2 back, put them on lead and made them sit (as Max is "funny" when on lead.
The lady slowed when getting towards us and I called out that her dog was lovely (he was absolutely beautiful). We had a little chat, and she was very nice and obviously Dobe-mad
Then she asked if it was me she had seen with my 2 dogs "charging all over the beach", so I said yes, I let them off lead on the beach, as they can let off steam out of everyone's way.
She leant her head towards her dog and said "titanium legs.... both back ones". I said "Pardon?"
She explained that because her boy (who was 15 months and about 7 or 8 stone in weight) was so large, his legs had given out due to his weight. He'd had metal rods in both his back legs to strengthen them.
She looked over my two and said, looking specifically at Murphy "that's what he'll need if you let him run around like that"
I must have looked at her a bit funny, as she said that Murphy looked like his legs and joints were under a lot of pressure and I shouldn't let him run around off lead like that until he was 2 or 3.... (by this point Murphy was laying on his back doing a roody-doody
). She said that her boy wasn't allowed off lead except in the garden anymore.
I just sort of "humphed" and said "right, best be off then"
Wasn't quite sure what to say when a complete stranger tells you that your dog will need new back legs if you let it off lead
