Farewell to Somerfield (warning - contains violence)

The Kirkwall branch of Somerfield has been taken over by Tesco. For our convenience, Tesco have closed it. In order to clear it, the old stock went on sale. World War III broke out. According to the local bumwiper, "women had started scrapping in the middle of the store". Two women, fighting physically over reduced dairy goods, it seems!

One woman, it appears, helped herself to a couple of fire extinguishers, and people were raiding each others' trolleys.

I am very pleased not to have been there.

Remember, the locals are the descendants of Vikings, they could come to blows over anything!

Remind me to tell you the story about the motor bike and the boat, some day.................

I would have loved to have seen the fight over the dairy - brilliant - was it just "wimmin" scrapping, or were the blokes involved as well?

Just wimmin, I gather! One incident seems to have involved the remaining stock of Ribena:

Someone picked up the last bottles and was told "I wanted some of that!". The reply was "Well, you should have been here earlier!". Then the situation got worse..........
