Cuckoo

I was staying at my mum's at the weekend and heard the cuckoo for the first time this year. I love the sound of the cuckoo.

Living in the town we don't hear him, I only hear him calling when I am in the countryside staying with my mum.
so I wondered how many on here hear the cuckoo where they live? I also wondered if he was to be found all over the country or if perhaps it was only found in certain parts. Also not sure how common they are these days?

Hmmm, now I'm right in the country, but also by the sea and can't remember hearing the cuckoo here.

Ours start up around 1st week in April as a rule....quite a few around here on the nature reserve and I can even hear them in the town, if the wind is in the right direction.

They come up to Scotland as well. Heard one just west of Falkirk while walking along the Forth and Clyde canal.
