Scanning

When is the earliest that you can get a dog scanned to see if they are in whelp? I thought it was 4weeks but some one told me that is too soon.

my vet will scan from 21 days ........ I have seen pups on a scan from 20 days .... I have a scan photo somewhere if you would like to see it..the pups on the scan were 23 days ?

Ava will be is just 22 days at the mo and we are hoping to get her scanned next mon/tues.........not going to the Vet though.

I had my bitch scanned at 28 days apparently this is the optimum time to do it before this its difficult to tell correctly and after this stage the pups get too big to see how many there are, but scans can only really tell you if the bitch is definatly pregnant, they cant guarantee to tell you how many really, I know so many peolpe that have been told there is "5 pups" then the bitch goes on to produce 9-10 pups. I was told min of 5 pups she had 6

My vet will scan at 4 weeks, but if there's any problems they will scan from 3 but told there's no guarentee they will find anything.

i agree with mo i have never had numbers that were right just confirmed that she was in whelp
