Jan Fennell - The Dog Listener

Hello,

Im pretty new to this forum so excuse me if this has already been brought up but how many people have read Jan Fennels book, 'The Dog Listener'?
I personally think it is a fantastic book and a real eye opener, it really makes you think about why your dog is really behaving the way it is (IMO that is! )

Whats your opinions on this?

My opinion of her books is that they are brilliant - for emergencies such as running out of loo paper - the paper may be a little scratchy but when needs must and all that

[ It must look like I`m following your posts one after the other its only that not many of us are up and about to respond at the mo, that`s all ]

As I believe I have said before here, her books are invaluable...as a doorstop or to correct a wonky table leg maybe

Her approach is too 'one size fit all' for my liking as there is little regard individual dog - she applies her methods across the board regardless of breed, history etc.

If you do a search on here for JF or dog listener, you'll find many old threads where her methods have been discussed.

Can't say I'm a great fan of hers either. Not read her books but from what I saw of her TV programmes I didn't like the one method suits all approach.

If you would like me to, I could email you with my personal experience with a 'Dog Listener'.

However, it's worth pointing out in advance that, in my opinion, the methods are a complete waste of time, energy and money!!!

I managed half her book.... and then gave it back to its original owner I thought it a bit harsh for my dopey English setter, who are not 'dominant' dogs anyway, just norty But its up to each owner, you know what works best for your dog, as they live in your house with you.....
