Who Doesn't Do Xmas?

I was just wondering if anybody doesn't celebrate Xmas, and if not, why not?

Working in a school, I know a few families/individuals who don't 'do' Xmas, I and understand the reasons why.

For instance, there are Jehovah's Witnesses children, a Muslim family, and those who just hate the commercialism of it all and avoid it like the plague.

So, if you don't practice Xmas, what is your reason?

In only celebrate it for my children, or I wouldnt bother.

I hate the fuss, the commercialism, the unecessary cost, etc etc and have never really understood WHY my family insist on sending a card or insisting on eating huge amounts of food, when we dont even believe in the religion, this ocassion was intended for !

I love the getting together with old friends and seeing family that maybe I haven't seen for a while.
Life is so busy but people make more of an effort at Christmas.
I love all the Christmas cards, opening them up and saying god are they still alive!!!!!
I love pushing through the crowds muttering "why?"
Most of all I love the food. If it is Christmas I have an excuse to pig out!!
I love the sparkle and shieyness of everywhere.

I Love Christmas

I don't 'do' Christmas. I'm not a Christian so it means nothing as a religious festival and I detest all the commercialism etc. I was talking to the lady in the Post Office and said you just buy the kids wish list and she said they don't even have a wish list anymore because a lot of them get whatever they want any way!
I think people need to be firm and use it as a family get together and actually communicating with each other rather than as a stressful costly exercise in keeping them sweet!

I remember the year when the folk over the road in a posh bungalow did not have their annual huge Christmas tree in their proch, was so disappointing as it was so nice to look ate every night, eventually found out they had become Jehovas Witnesses, so no more Christmas tree, was sad for us!!

We believe in the Christmas Story so love the Salvation Army playing outside supermarkets and so on and seeing the children in nativity plays but prefer the traditional plays not these silly meaningless ones done to keep other religions happy, cant we do our own country s traditional one for once, however I dont like the endless buying of expensive gifts takes the fun out of it, Still say we had more fun genuine fun when I was a child, so there!! am not an old fuddy duddy either!! Honest am not!!!!
