to recline or not to recline

that is the question. sorry if this is in the wrong bit, but its doggy related, and its important!

I am looking to buy a recliner, and am deciding whether to go for leather, or the plactic 'faux' leather (considerably cheaper!) the decision goes with which one will withstand dog claws (i am bad, dogs on couch ummmvvvv ops: )
have any of you experience with leather and dogs, is it tuff enough?

i would go for leather. our leather suite has withstood max and his mad half hours where he tears around the circuit in the house and up and over the settees and he hits them at quite a flying force

i know, and when people come over, i quickly throw a clean blanket over so there is somewhere 'clean' to sit. i guess 'unhairy' would be a better word! so you think leather is tougher, i cant imagine a nail going through it, i mean they dont scratch or dig on the couch, but that doesnt smell of cow!
how about cleaning leather, is their special requirement or will baby wipes do (this is my quick way of dusting)

sorry, i just know nothing about leather!!!!

well max is a hefty lump and is 34kg and he runs at speed and jumps and skids on the settees and he has not even marked it. you are not supposed to use baby wipes on leather settees but i do but wet kitchen roll will do the trick and then dry with dry kitchen roll nice cheap and easy
