Cropped Ears

A friend of mine asked me what the law in the UK was regarding the cropping of ears as she'd met a person in Dundee that had a Giant Schnauzer with cropped ears.

I had a very quick look on the web about the laws but it got me wondering about what this particular dog's circumstances were.

Has anybody else come accross dogs in the UK with cropped ears?

One Scottish boxer breeder had a cropped import but he could not be shown in the UK. He was lovely though.

You're allowed to import them cropped but as Carole has said they cannot be shown under KC regulations but it is illegal to crop dogs ears in the UK and has been for nigh on 100 odd years!

So this G Schnauzer could have been imported then I guess.

cropping of ears is nasty business it is rife with Schnauzers of all 3 sizes in the states and many other breeds too ie dobermanns and rotties many pups die during the op and aftercare of infections the ears have to be bandaged and taped together for weeks until they heal it must be traumatic for the dogs involved...
Lexi is a miniature schnauzer but she has flying ears (standing up ears) and a few people have mistook this for cropping as they are not too big but I am totally against this barbaric cosmetic surgery.... Many imports of Schnauzers have cropped ears though

I didn't actually see the dog but my first thought was 'flying' ears although I wasn't sure of the actual term.

Is this something that a Giant Schnauzer could have ?
