How come the queens uncle had to abdicate years ago when he wanted to marry a divorcee

I think they should be married but when they do he should give up his claim to the throne.

I think he had to abdicate because he was the King and then decided to marry her. As far as I know he asked the Government for their blessing for him to marry Wallace Simpson after he was made King but they declined and he then abdicated leaving our present Queens father to take on the role of King. So a slightly different situation.

I dont think Charles will ever be King now. She is a divorcee & a catholic I am pretty sure both are frowned upon.

I think its up to them what they do its just a shame they went all those years hurting so many people in the process. I mean they have been together many years but if you consider they both had partners and families in that time it seems sad for them but also doesnt cover the fact they were cheating on their partners very publically too..

I agree that Charles should give up the right to the throne to marry Camilla, after all as has been said before, Edward was made to give up the throne when he married Mrs Simpson, and If I am correct, it was this Royal Family that made him do so
