Snorting!

Tigger has started snorting either through or down his nose. He does it quite quickly about six or seven times. Anyone know why? Could he have a cold or something stuck? Only started about two weeks ago.

My sheebs do this at times. I've never been sure what it was, but never worried about it as it doesn't appear to be having an adverse affect. Maybe it's the equivalent of human's trying to clear phlegm from the nasal passages

That link was fab - spot on. I can vouch for the gentle stroking of the throat having a positive effect too as it's what I always do to my lot.

Just a word of caution though...reverse sneezing can be the first sign of kennel cough, so if he's doing it a lot it's worth keeping an eye out for any other symptoms! Having said that my x breed does it a lot...

What other symptoms should I be on the look out for?

He does sometimes twitch an awful lot and breathe more heavily when sleeping. Snores occasionally. Apart from that and the smells that he produces all seems to be in order I think.

Is kennel cough contagious?
