Outlook problem help please

When I click the "Send/Receive" button in Outlook I get the error message "The operation failed" and my only option then is to press the ok button.

Obviously, this is not ok.

Anyone got any ideas please?

Thanks xox

Check that the settings for POP3 and SMTP servers are correct for your ISP.

However, if using some antivirus software this becomes 127.0.0.1 which makes it more difficult to diagnose.

Does the error message say anything else ?

No, nothing Roy. The strange thing is, when I compose a message and hit send, and the message goes into the Outbox, it will then send it automatically. It's only when pressing the Send/Receive button that there's a problem, so I can't actually receive.....
