Blood in Urine

I took Ben to the park for his walk and when we got back to the car I noticed there was blood on his under belly hair from weeing.

He was just acting normal running around sniffing and weeing etc and he is eating and drinking normally.

What do you think it could be? Would it be a urine infection perhaps?

I think I'll take him to the vet just incase.

Yes, it needs to be sorted, if we saw blood in our urine we would be straight to the doctors and a dog with the same symptoms needs the same treatment. Chances are it is an infection in his tubes but does need dealing with without delay.

Well Ben is fine, the vet gave him a course of antibiotics, and says he might have high levels of calcium & magnesium and he may have crystals in his bladder ?

Think thats what he said anyway!! But Ben is doing well, just his usual self and I have to bring another urine sample for them to check again.

So that'll be hours running around the garden looking like a fool
