Oooh, a snake!

Someone reported seeing a snake in one of our blocks today...
I was asked if I would have a look...basically the rest of the crew were terrified.
I was expecting a length of hosepipe.
What I *got* was
http://static.flickr.com/64/165783600_b71d12440a_o.jpg

The pic was taken in a dark room (that is me, by the way), so the quality was not good, but that is a 4-5 foot long corn snake.

I took it to our housing office.
I have to say that a fire alarm could not have emptied it quicker

So I took it to the local police station. They were terrified, an had me put it in a big cardboard box, and carry it into the office...

If the owner is not found, i get to keep her

She is obviously used to being handled, and was just gorgeous!

I'm still torn between corn snake and milk snake.
Although it didn't have the distinct V or Y markings on the head, it had three yellow dots between the eyes.
And it was so *cute*.
And everyone was so *scared!*

I wannit ! After me you ome first.

as for keeing it, wel it will escape fro ma cardboard box.lol

and if you do keep it and need setup help jsut shout.lol

will need a viv, substrate, a heat source and a themrostata plus like decor and water bowl and then food, wont eb an especially cheap setup period, never is.

I believe you are right. A South Florida king snake, judging by the colouration.
I used to keep garter snakes, but had to get shot of them when I got married
Now I'm young free and single again, I may just start up again. Setup will, as you say, be expensive, but hey, they're worth it. This one was actually quite friendly. My last gartersnake, Houdini, was a beggar for escaping, and very short tempered

Nope...Californian it is. You win teh internet

Lovely

I have a garter snake and a corn snake!
I rescued the garter snake - because of how she was treated, she HATES being held, so I don't bother. She panics, and never got any better with time.

My corn snake loves being held, and likes sitting in the hood of my dressing gown/jacket etc
