I think it could be Columbine, (Aquilegia). There are some stunning varieties, but I have the dark purple, and double pink, (Candyfloss), in my garden. They self seed at the end of the Summer, and are rather difficult to keep to one area.

Really pretty love self seeding flowers. They are usually more robust. we have what I call pink shamrock which grows every year despite getting trimmed at times by the mower.
