Boston Terrier Pregnant?

[/IMG]

[/IMG]

We recently got this sweet girl on Craig's list about 4.5 weeks ago. She is an inside dog and we are go out with her when she goes potty. She is almost 4yrs old and not spayed. When we got her the owners said she had no known health issues. We took her to the vet this past Saturday and he said he couldn't tell if she was pregnant or not. Her previous owners stated she stayed mostly indoors with no other dogs. He said he couldn't feel anything but that didn't mean she wasn't pregnant. She did test positive for whip worm and he prescribed a 4 day course of Panacur. Her stomach has gotten quite large in the short amount of time we have had her. The second pic is the day we got her and the first pic is now. Could it be a false pregnancy? Anything to distinguish that from a true pregnancy? The vet said to bring her back in 10 days and he said he could tell by then.

I think you need to wait on the vet for a diagnosis. It's too hard for us to tell by a photo.

Hi Boston - I can't understand why your vet doesn't just do a pregnancy scan on her? It would be nice to know how many to prepare for and how to feed the mother accordingly.

We went to the vet on 1/31. He took an X-ray and said he could see 6-7 puppies. He said to keep her on her Science Diet while pregant and switch to a puppy chow once the puppies are born. The only thing I'm concerned about is that the higher chance for Boston's needing C sections. We live about 45 mins away from an emergency vet and about 20 min from our normal vet. Do Bostons always need a C-section? Here is a pic of her x-ray. How delveloped do they look? 1 week...2 weeks...until they are born?
