Are pet GPS systems any good?

Hey everyone!

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong place (I'm new here so be gentle on me haha).

My friend just showed me Pet GPS systems. My old family dog (before Pugsy my Pug) ran away when we were on a walk and we never found him (we're still hoping and praying he is found one day).

I've never seen this before are these any good? are there other things like this?

I've looked at these before, read reviews on Amazon and they don't seem all that reliable, plus I would rather have one like a chip as these can just be taken off the collar and the dog not returned to you.
