Three men from Lancashire have been jailed for animal cruelty at Burnley Magistrates Court.

Paul Ashworth, 49, who tried to shake a cat out of a tree so his dogs could maul it, was sentenced to 76 days in prison.

He has also been banned from owning or keeping animals for five years.

His associates, Josh Varey and Shaun Mullens, who set their dogs on badgers, were jailed for 126 days and 114 days respectively. They are both banned from owning or keeping animals for 10 years.,
