walking - how soon after vaccinations can a puppy be taken for a walk?

ok, people have told me different things,
one week after vaccinations
two weeks after vaccinations

i'm going to ask the vets when we go for her second set of vaccs tomorrow but basically, she is really ready for vaccinations - she desperately wants to go out and she gets crazy at night - i think if i were to take her for walks it woud settle her down a bit and she desperately wants to go out when we go in the garden for the toilet/to play.

the thing is our garden really isn't ready yet to let her play out there and wear herself out.

so when did you take yours - i will ask kady too as she bred her but i am desperate to take her out as she so wants to!

Thanks,
Lottie xx

My vet told me it was safe to take my puppy out a week after her 2nd jab yet a friend went to same vet with her dog and was told 3 weeks after his 2nd jab.

Although she went to same vets think she saw a different vetinary surgeon/nurse.

Hi Lottie,
We took spike out for walks a week after his 2nd injecton,
to be honest i think its where your taking the puppy that matters,
if it is just a walk round the block then am sure you`ll be ok, just keep a good eye out for other dogs.
i think the local park might have to many dogs some not on a lead, but its really up to you, do what you think is best for her.

we won't be going very far - she can only go out for 15 minutes at a time max - thanks for the replies. Will take them into consideration - decisions decisions!

it depends on the type of vaccine.
with our boxers it was 2 weeks after the 2nd with the leos it was 1 week but they had the 2nd jab at 10 weeks.
tob had 8 & 10 so he could go out at 12 weeks because of the size of him and the type he was given.
i would say 1 week after but only local to your house etc as you would any way leave it 2 untill you go in areas with lots of dogs around.

We took both our dogs out 1 week after there second jabs at 12 weeks, so they were around 13 weeks when they went for there first walk, I think vets vary on when they say it ok to take them out

TJ and Scrumps were both 9 weeks old when they had their first walks through town, they had both had 1 jab, they had their second at 10 weeks

thanks Leo,

at first we'd only be going for short walks around the block/up to the post box etc. and as it's all university residences round here - there's not many dogs!

Its not just dogs though - rats can carry one of the diseases that they are vaccinated against; and if my experience at Uni is anything to go by, there will be one or two scavengers nearby

I remember Molo was climbing the walls by the time we could go out for a walk. Does your vet surgery offer puppy classes? These are often offered to pups "between" vaccinations and it may just be enough to tide you over those last few days

I take it she's to big to carry?
