I don't know if there are any free programs that let you do that

Paint shop pro and Adobe photoshop elements are the best and the cheapest you can buy

The only one that I know of, personally, is Adobe Photoshop, but it's bl**dy expensive (well into three figures), or Adobe CS2.

I could try to get you a copy of Adobe PS v8.0, but it would be a Mac version, and probably of no use to you (I assume you use a PC, not a Mac).

Useful photoediting suites are not cheap to buy, and I don't know of anyone giving them away, BUT, depending on what you want it for, a trial download (with a time limit) might do the trick, if the job is a one-off.

P,S. - it's not the easiest program in the world to use, but it is the "industry standard", and very, very good.

Elements can do most of the big stuff photoshop can do

it depends how in depth you want to use it, for what you describe elements or paint shop pro will be fine

I got paint shop pro from a boot sale and it cost me £1! does all the editing I want...can be a little hard to learn but there are lots of online tutorials to help....It's one of the more professional but cheaper photo editors. I think a brand new copy and the latest version would probably be about £100 or less (guessing) but you can get hold of older versions for dirt cheap like I did.
