When did your dogs adult coat grow in?

So over these past few weeks, I have noticed a very thick and wavy hair growing down from Nigredo's neck and upwards from his tail.

When did your dog grow in his adult coat? I've only had short haired and semi short haired dogs before, and never have experienced this at all.

This was only in November... (he had just had a bath)

My two dogs who are low shedding, didn't get their full coats through until between the ages of 18 - 20 months. Around the 10 month mark they 'blew' their puppy coat which meant the house was full of puppy coat 'fluff'. I have no idea what type of coat Nigredo will have but it doesn't look like a long coat ... more like a thick lab coat maybe

No, he won't have a long coat at all. He's a retriever mix, he's not a long coated breed, of course. It's just thickening a lot, and very recently to boot.

He's medium to short haired. He doesn't shed really, either. He's 13 months and I'm just now seeing the thick wavy hair around his neck area.

I've owned a few pit bull mixes, a rottie mix, a ridgeback mix, and one chow mix that wasn't a puppy before I was born. All pretty much flat coated. Brownie had only tail and butt fluff, all the hair on his back was short like a pit bull.

Ima has a huge double coat, she was born in July 2006 and had her first full coat in the winter of 2007 so she will have been about 16/18 months when her adult coat was full.
