Virtual memory

Why does my computer keep increasing my Virtual Memory and what is it?

Your computer's using free disk space as if it were memory using a file called a swap file.

You can have a look (But probably best not to touch!) by right clicking my computer>properties>virtual memory or something like that....

Thanks Fred, will go and read and see if I understand.

Well have read it but don't understand why it has to keep doing it, is it flexable, that is expanding and contracting as and when it is required? I have 2GB of RAM if that has any bearing on the continuing need for more Virtual Memory.
