The right thing to do

we had a post on here a while ago about whether or not to spay ..... I expressed my opinion that I would not spay a bitch unless medically required ... I am sad to say that Sophie my Blen girl is going to have to be spayed ...she has just bagan her second season and she is flooding so bad she has no energy even to eat ....her hormones are running so high she crys ( very loud) even when i leave the room ......I have seen the vet and she has no infection but we both feel we can't put her through this every six months her first season lasted 24 days of bleeding ...I feel very sad to be doing this but we feel it has to be right for her not us..... and such a shame all round.... she is a daughter of a Champion and is very nicely bred it's not about breeding

Oh Inca. I'm sorry for you, but must agree that it's not good for Sophie or you to go throught this every 6 months.

I know it's best ......never thought I would own a champs girl so feel a bit sad ..her mum Pippa have heavy seasons but not as bad as this and they did settle down after she had pups but she was never as hormonal as this ......I know it will settle her down as well as she is hyper but thats not the reason she has to be done ...perhaps it's best all round..

Sorry to hear about Sophie's problems Inca, I do hope that all goes well and will be thinking of you both.

Does your vet do a test which can verify if the dog is OK with the anaesthetic?
