Because all animals need the most nutrition at the time of the highest rate of growth.

As dogs (and people and other animal) their calorie requirements decrease as the nutrients are for maintenance and repair rather than growth.

Thanks .

have been measuring how much she eats and she has put loads on in the past few weeks and seems to be doing well going to get her weighed at the vet this week. She is such a hungry puppy and would eat all day.

She came to us on Asda's hero complete with a small amount of wet (butchers) and is doing really well on it but would like to change.

Asda's food isn't that great quality and therefore the dog needs to eat more of it to get the same amount of nutrition. On another forum someone asked for ideas on what to suggest to a relative who's dog was having constant ear infections, they were feeding it Asda's Hero food so I suggested they tried something else - recommended something like Autarky as they needed something at the lower end of the budget. Not only did the ear issues stop, but they found the Autarky a fair bit cheaper to feed because they could feed so much less of it!
