Pet Plan Insurance Question...

Is there anyone with Pet Plan that could maybe help answer a question a friend asked me please...I'm with them but I don't know the answer so it will enlighten me as well

Where it says for example, Pet Plan will pay £4000 per illness per year...say if your pet has to have a big operation very near to the end of that years policy and the operation goes over the £4000, say for example it cost £5000, does the difference get paid on the next years policy or do you have to foot the bill of the extra £1000?
We understand that you have to pay the excess every year no matter if it's an existing illness but we just wanted to know what happens in this instance.
Thanks for you help

I would have thought that you would need to pay the extra £1000 yourself.

Whichever insurance year your bill comes in, decides what you pay.

So for example, when I had the MRI scan done on my dog, it was towards the end of his insurance year, so I made it very clear that I needed it to be done before a certain date, which then left me the max for the following year in case he needed an operation, does that help?

Great thanks
....also, if an owner takes out a policy with Pet Plan and it says £4000 per year, does that have to cover all accidents and illnesses for that year or is it £4000 per illness per year?
I only ever claimed for my other dog and Pet Plan seem to word things different these days so I just want to be clear so I can pass on the correct info to our friend.
Thanks so much for your all your help.

£4000 is your cover for the year overall, for all illness or accidents, not per condition. However as long as your coveted for life, you'll get a new budget of £4000 for the next year and that can cover ongoing illness.

Treat each policy year separately. You'll need to pay a new excess for each new illness, and again in the next year if you keep claiming. Anything over the £4000 you cover, then it gets renewed in the new policy year.
