Ginnie - 1yo Black Greyhound

GINNIE

**UPDATED: JUNE 2012**

Ginnie is a 1 year old ex-racing greyhound girl who was not good enough to compete in the racing world. She is now looking for a loving home to call her own. Ginnie is a small girl, though she is smaller than she should be right now as she is quite thin at the moment. We hope that she will start putting on weight and condition once she settles a bit more.

~ Personality ~
Dear little Ginnie has not been with us long and we are still getting to know her. She is a shy, sensitive little girl who needs time and gentle handling to come out of her shell. In the right home Ginnie will flourish, and it would be so very rewarding to watch her gradually open up and learn to trust. We hope that she doesn’t have to wait long to find that perfect home.

~ In the Home ~
Ginnie is currently in kennels, but she lived in a foster home for a few weeks before coming to the UK. We are aiming to get her back into a foster placement as soon as we have space, because this girl will not do well in kennels.

When in her foster home, Ginnie was a quiet little girl who was nervous of men and strangers, but was so very sweet once she learned to trust you. She is also a bit of a finicky eater, likely linked to the stress of being in a home for the first time, and we hope she will come out of herself and eat healthily once she settles more. She has gotten the hang of housetraining and was clean in the house. She needs more time to learn how to play, and having other happy dogs around her is a huge help. Ginnie is only a young girl yet with years of potential and chances to realise that not everyone is out to get her.

~ Other Animals ~
Ginnie is good with other dogs and shared her foster home with several other greyhounds and collie crosses. She has also spent some time around a jack Russell and caused no problems, so we think she will be ok to live with other dogs of any size. She has not yet been cat tested.

Ginnie really does need a home with another dog present to guide her and show her there's nothing to be scared about. She would make a lovely companion for another dog, and we hope she will start to play and interact more once she gets over this initial hump of fear.

~ Out and About ~
Ginnie can get spooked by loud noises or sudden movements when out, and she needs a patient owner to provide a gradual learning curve and help her get over these fears. She may be best in a country home without the loud traffic and bangs that come with city life, as she seems happiest when in a quiet field with her doggie friends. Ginnie is going to be an incredibly rewarding hound for the right person to take on and help rehabilitate into a happy, well-adjusted lady.

~ Where Am I? ~
Ginnie is currently being kennelled in Norfolk, UK. She can be homed anywhere in the UK, but please note that you will be required to travel to us in Norfolk to meet her.

~ Want To Adopt Me? ~
Ginnie is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure. This girl would greatly benefit from being in a foster home, and Kerry Greyhounds UK is always in desperate need of new fosterers. It is such a rewarding experience, and costs are covered by the rescue.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering Ginnie, please visit either our website’s Adoption Page or Fostering Page for information and instructions on our homing & fostering procedures. If you have any further questions or problems, please feel free to email me (Tam). Emails are usually replied to within 24 hrs. Thanks!

~~ KERRY GREYHOUNDS UK ~~

Kerry Greyhounds UK is a small voluntary organisation that is based in Norfolk, England. It focuses on rehoming unwanted Irish greyhounds and lurchers, as huge numbers are bred in Ireland each year and homes are few and far between. KGUK operates through a network of volunteers spaced over Ireland and the UK. We can look after approximately 30 dogs at any one time in both kennels and foster homes.

Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, & microchipped before being adopted (unless stated otherwise).
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in all corners of the UK.

If interested in one of our hounds, please visit our website’s Adoption Page for information and instructions on our homing procedures. Once you have filled in and returned the application form, we will then contact you via phone or email to discuss adopting one of our hounds in more detail.

If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Emails are usually replied to within 24hrs.

Thank you.
