BVA vs OFA Hip Scores

Just looking on a certain social networking site and one of my US friends has posted a copy of a letter from the OFA, stating that her bitch has an OFA hip score of 'good' and there is no hip dysplasia present. How is it then in BVA any score over 0:0 would show some degree of dysplasia, yet in the USA system it's not considered to be dysplasia until it's so high (borderline?).

Just wondering!

I have no idea but the USA do have a very different outlook on all things 'dog'. They still crop ears etc etc. My Aunt from the USA arrives tomorrow morning to stay for a couple of weeks and she use to breed Golden Retrievers for 40 years and judge them all over the US. I'll ask her about hip scores and come back to you.

Anything above a perfect hip score (0:0) is some sign of dysplacia, however you would not say that the dog is dysplasic if they have a very low score. The OFA site gives some good comparisons and explanations:
