Roxy's wound - normal?

Just wondering really.....

As some of you know, Roxy had surgery on Thursday of last week, so only 6 days ago, to remove a tumour from her rear, right leg, which required a margin of skin to be removed around it as well and also a flap of skin stretched down to cover the defect left by the tumour removal, so a fairly decent operation for a little lump! Poor little girl.

This was how the wound looked on Monday night, just after the dressing was removed (as advised by the vet). They said bruising and swelling was to be expected.

And this is it tonight.....

She had been on Tramadol for 3 days, and is still on Rimadyl and Synulox antibiotics. She hasn't had a problem at all with any of these meds and is eating all her meals, which is great.

I'm giving her Arnica as well now, presumably this is okay? My friend asked her homeopath and said it was, so presume it is and went ahead to give her it!

She's doing really well, only slightly interested in the wound at the moment, so that's good, and she's coping brilliantly with no exercise and just trips to the garden for the toilet. She has been a little star!

Just wondering how those with experience think it looks? I think I'll drop in at my own vets with her on Friday after work or Saturday morning, just for a little check before she goes back to the vet school on the 28th of this month.

Thanks.

It's looking much better isn't it! It's clean and looking less 'angry'. I'd be very happy with how she's healing.

I think it looks pretty good, hon. It was quite traumatic, so I would expect a long healing time.

From the limited experience of major wounds like that it looks to me like it could just be the bruising coming out a bit, it does take a few days.

Thanks, all. I guess I just wanted a bit of assurance really that all looked well from those with more experience than myself. Glad it appears to be doing okay!

It looks nice and clean.

As long as it is not weepy or hot to touch it should be ok Thats what we were told to watch out for.

Looks fine to me, she sounds like she is being really good at the moment.
Well done her.

She is being absolutely brilliant which I'm so pleased about. If this had been 4 years ago, this would've been a nightmare! She'd have had a freaky! So I'm thrilled with how she is coping. I really am.

And here is Roxy's wound as it was tonight at 5pm. Looking good, I think!

And she has finished all her meds today, too, so just giving he some Arnica now for a few days more.
