Fit for function

What do you think of when people talk about breeds being
''Fit for function ''..

I saw a dog at DD that had such loose eye lids (having never seen cherry eye in the flesh i am not sure if it was on its way of having that issue) but the 3rd eyelid part was sooo red and visible .
This dog was on a breed stand sitting next to a poster; saying fit for function ...

dogs are not just work tools any more and if phoebe ever had to go and do the job her breed was for, she would fail epically.
But i suppose shes fit for function as shes in good health ect.

For me "Fit For Function" means the dog has the physical capabilities to perform the task it was bred to perform. It also means it has the right mental capabilities too, whether that be drive, attitude or temperament.

Sometimes the eyes are loose so you can see the third eyelid. Depending on what the function was the dog could still be fit to perform it.

Having said that I personally don't like loose eyelids.
