A notable passing.
I don't know if you'll see this news anywhere else this week but I thought I'd post here anyway...
We lost a truly great figure in computing over the weekend.
Dennis Ritchie (Known as dmr.) passed away at the weekend. dmr was a (the) key figure in the creation of both Unix and the C programming language. Which makes it fair to say that without his contributions in the late sixties and early 70s (And beyond.) the internet and computing would not be as we know it.
So, this post is just my way of saying thanks to him. (I've posted little bits and pieces on various other sites too.) It's a bit of a shame that in all likelihood he'll remain largely unknown, considering his legacy.
